UrbaCon to build Qatar’s first economic zones worth USD 466 million

Qatar-based UrbaCon Trading & Contracting has been awarded USD 466 million to design and build an urban area in Ras Bufontas area of Qatar next to Hamad International Airport (HIA) terminal.

The project – set up by the Qatari government to develop economic zones across the country – is a joint venture between Qatar-based UrbaCon Trading & Contracting (UCC) and Spanish firm Sacyr.

“The work covers an area of approximately 4.1 square kilometres, which is Qatar’s first economic zone,” said Moataz Al-Khayyat, CEO of UrbaCon.

UrbaCon Trading & Contracting has been involved in several huge projects over the last few years including: Mall of Qatar, Banana Island Resort, the Sheraton Doha Hotel and Convention Center, and the Lekhwiya Stadium at Al Duhail.
